Harleyween Poker Run

Fifth annual Harleyween Poker Run is planned, with registration at 11 a.m. at the Harley-Davidson Training Center.

Sponsored by the Four State Scooter Boosters, the event will include vendors, a slow ride, burnout contest, loud pipes contest and music by a DJ. First bike out will be at noon.

Dyno runs will be $25. Food will be available for $5 per plate. All proceeds will benefit the Harley-Davidson Training Center SKILLS USA Chapter.

Candidate open house
Coffee and doughnuts will be served to the public following the Pittsburg State University Homecoming parade at the Democrat Party Headquarters. Several local political candidates will be present.

Chili feed
Pittsburg State University nursing department will sponsor a chili feed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McPherson Hall, Pittsburg State University.

Chili, dessert and beverage will be available for $5. Proceeds will go toward a trip for nursing students to volunteer at a hospital in Juarez, Mexico.

Legion feed
Pittsburg American Legion Post 64 will have a free noon feed at the post home, 2815 N. Joplin. It will be open to members only.

Scrabble Club
Pittsburg Scrabble Club NSA 613 will meet from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pittsburg Public Library. Players of all skill levels may attend. Anyone needing additional information may call Dan Lee, director, at 231-6205.

Gospel Fellowship
Pittsburg Chapter 650, Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International, will have a banquet meeting at the Lamplighter Inn.

Meal will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting and program will follow at 7:15 p.m. Reservations are required for the meal, but the program is open without charge to all interested men, women and youth.

Speakers will be Gary and Robyn Mishler. Mishler, a Weir native, is a former vice president of the Pittsburg FGBMFI chapter. Three years ago he moved his family from Arma to Commerce, Okla., to help in a church that didn’t make it.

He and his wife both work for the Grove, Okla., Hospital. He manages an apartment building, Honeycreek Retirement Village, for the hospital, and also works in medical equipment.

Leritz benefit
GIRARD — A benefit dinner, auction and dance will be held at 5 p.m. at St. Michael’s Hall, Girard.

Proceeds will go to Wayne Leritz and his family for medical and travel expenses. Leritz was recently injured in a motorcycle accident, and is now recovering after several surgeries.

Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Menu will feature spaghetti, salad, green beans and dessert, with take-out available. Free will donations will be accepted for the meal.

Auction will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a dance.

Monetary donations may also be dropped off or mailed to First National Bank, 205 S. Summit, P.O. Box 6, Girard, Kan., 66743.

Mirza Octoberfest
Mirza Shrine Center will host an Octoberfest, with doors opening at 7 p.m. John Yoger Polka Band will provide music from 8 to 11 p.m.

Refreshments will include bratwurst and kraut. The event will be open to the public at a cost of $15 at the door.
